Great Creative Cloud Updates for Designers

We just released a major update to Creative Cloud. If you are a designer you’ll love this :)

Photoshop CC

The Perspective Warp feature makes it possible to apply perspective changes locally while keeping the rest of the image intact (read more here).

Perspective Warp

When you update a Linked Smart Object the update is pushed to all the documents where the object is being used. Now you can open 3D designs, refine, and print them to a 3D printer all directly from Photoshop CC.

Illustrator CC

The rebuilt Pencil Tool greatly improves drawing workflows while the Path Segment Reshape tool makes it easier to modify existing shapes (read my short tutorial here). Live Corners lets you edit the roundness of corners whenever you need to.

The perspective drawing and SVG generation features were improved too. When you change the grid perspective, the drawings dynamically update to match the new perspective. When you save a file as an SVG there is a new option in the SVG Options window called Responsive. If you check this option you get an SVG that automatically scales up and down with the size of the browser window.

InDesign CC

There is support for the EPUB 3.0 specification and simplified hyperlink creation and management makes  link creation easier and faster. There is support for Japanese Vertical Composition, Hebrew, and Arabic text now for EPUB output.

A great addition is the seamless integration with the fonts available for desktop from the Typekit Font service. Now, if you open a document that uses fonts not installed locally, InDesign automatically looks up for those fonts on Typekit and, if they are available,  downloads and installs them locally.

New Creative Cloud Learn Content

One important part of the Creative Cloud offering is the learning material we are providing for free to all members. Like a living person the content grows and becomes better over the time. Check out the Creative Cloud Learn if you want to stay in sync with the new features or to learn new tools and workflows.

How to get this update

If you have the Creative Cloud helper app installed on your computer just start this app. You should get a notification for these four updates and all you have to do is to install them.

If you don’t have Creative Cloud installed, create an account (you can create a free account too) and download the tools you want to try. You can use any tool you want for 30 days if you opted for a free account.
