Future of Flex

Andrew Shorten (group product manager for Flex and developer tools at Adobe) just posted an interesting write-up about the future of Flex. If you are a Flex developer I’m sure you’ll find this worth reading. I know I did.

I won’t spoil the surprise but I have to say that I think this is good news!

If you have comments, please leave a message here! I will make sure it reaches Andrew’s inbox!

  1. Nice message but, after reading it, I felt it lacked a bit of substance. It was mostly a reaffirmation of what we already knew or supposed, but not much was said about new features and target release dates. I am a huge fan of Flex/Air/FlashBuilder, but I feel that communication about what is coming is too spread out and scarce (1 post per month in the official blog) and MAX events are too expensive to attend for those of us who don’t live in the US.

I think you made some good points over here. Regarding MAX, I can’t send you there but I encourage you to watch the live streaming of the keynotes and then the sessions once they are post. For example, Deepa had a good session last year on what the team are working on. One of the coolest thing that will come is the new compiler :).
